Academy 1 p.m. April 18 at
Shaarey Zedek.
Leon Halpern, president
of Shaarit Haplaytah and
chairman of the Holocaust
Memorial Center, pointed
out that April 18 is two days
before Yom Hashoa —
Holocaust Remembrance
Day.
A candlelighting cere-
mony by the survivors of the
concentration camps and
ghettos, accompanied by the
children of Holocaust sur-
vivors, will be led by Mrs.
Leon (Sonia) Popowski,
chairman of the day. Can-
tors Louis Klein of Cong.
Bnai Moshe and Chaim
Najman of Shaarey Zedek
will chant memorial - rendi-
tions. They will be accom-
panied by Carole Lasser.
Halpern will welcome
the assembly and brief
greetings will be ex-

Raoul Wallenberg, the
Swedish humanitarian who
saved 20,000-50,000 Hun-
garian Jews from the Nazis,
will be the recipient in ab-
sentia of the Righteous
Gentiles Citation. The
award will be presented by
Dr. John J. Mames, chair-
man of the oral history and
Holocaust studies project of
Shaarit Haplaytah, to Mar-
vin R. Anderson, royal con-
sul of Sweden.
Cellist Miriam Bolkosky,
age 11, will play musical
renditions and Shari Ferber
will give recitations.
A proclamation from
Governor William Milli-
ken and messages from
other dignitaries will be
acknowledged-by Martin
S. Water, first vice
president of Shaarit Hap-
laytah. -
Charles H.
Rabbi
Rosenzveig, director of the
Holocaust Memorial Cen-
ter, will deliver the memo-
rial address. William
Greenberg, commander and
members of the Jewish War
Veterans Department of
Michigan will present the
colors.
Photographic exhibits on
the Holocaust will be on
display.

Israel Bonds to Ruben H. Isaacs, president of Metro
Detroit JNF, toward the extablishment of their 50,000-
tree forest in the American Independence Park in
Israel. The forest will be formally established at the
dinner to be held June 16 at Cong. Shaarey Zedek.
