WABEEK WOMEN'S

other models.'
Irene Henderson, resi-
dent of Wabeek, was the
charming chairperson - . .
and introduced Shirley Be-
cker, whose interesting
commentary as the models
walked on stage and around
the room was further
enhanced with fashion
notes for spring.
The models .. . Leah,
Harriet Fuller, L c) is Per-
shin, Ilona Karp, Kay
Jackson, Diane Loewen and
Denise Peruski . . . kept a
well-organized, fast-moving
pace direct to the point of
showing the crisp, colorful
spring styles as classical
music played 'softly in the
background.
Beth Jacob, fashion
coordinator for Roz and
Sherm, now open in its
new locale at Bloomfield
Plaza on Telegraph, as-
sisted the models . . .
while Catherine Ponda,
hair stylist for Heidi's Sa-
lon, did their tresses.
Kitty Wagner, among the
interested guest onlookers,
recently returned from New
York, learning this year's
new spring makeup look for
women.
Leah Marks has noon
fashion shows. . at
Kingsley Inn on W
. ednes-
day, Eden Glen on Thurs-
days, Healthy Sones on Fri-
days . . . But she is beccim-
ing a very diversified model
and coordinator . . . The
former Israeli soldier and
hubby Mitchell's beauty re-
cently did a Sweet 16 party
at which teen styles were
shown to "New York, New
York" music . . . Her coming
show for Weight Watchers
may approach the 1,000
mark in attendance.
IF STEVE NATINSKY
hadn't been allergic to fish
all his life he'd have been in
that business today . . . in-
stead of being a hair stylist
. The son of Dave and
Fit
. Natinsky, he can eat
lobster, shrimp and other
shelled seafood . . . but one
time ate half-fingernail of
gefilte fish and wound up in
the hospital . . . Dave, by
the way, has retired after
almost 60 years in the fish
business.
Steve started at Sol and
Bob in Green-8 Shopping
Center 20 years ago . . .
and after making friends in
the northwest, left town
. . . returning recently to
go with Raymond To-
mashek at Country Squire
Hair Salon on 14 Mile and
Middlebelt, near the
Broadway Market.

--

Raymond is also a former
Sol and Bob stylist . . .
from Livernois and Seven
Mile to Green4 . . . and
now has a highly-regarded
salon of his own ... with
four operators, seven chairs
and 14 driers.. . Rejig the
Country Squire after which.
the alulpis named.
RECENT , - PROMO-
TION by. Detroit Bagel was
biggest yet . . . 20,000
green bagels in one week.
HARRY NELSON can't
say enough nice things
about his brother-in-law
and sister-in-law, • Gerald
and Mikie Freed of Windsor
. . . They have always been
special to Harry and his
wife Lois . . . This winter
was cause for a dandy thank
you as Gerald and Mikie
stayed in Canada while

Harry and Lois spent a
month at the Freed's Palm
Aire, Fla. home . . . includ-
ing luxury car and private
club facilities.
TENANTS ARE • begin-
ning to move into the new
Boardwalk Shopping Cen-

ter on Orchard Lake Rd.
near Maple . . . First to
open will be Shayna's, to-
day, with women's high-
style fashions.
BARRISTER TERRY
BERLIN recently found a
little "luck of the Irish" can
rub off on anybody . .
While stepping over the
winter-long mounds of
snow, near his office in
Southfield, he found a $20
bill.
The next night, thinking
his luck would last, he went ,
to a Red Wing hockey game
where they were giving
away prizes . . . To his dis-
appointment, Terry was not
a winner . . . After the
game, trying to console
himself with friends, Alan
Gildenberg and Steve Can-
ner, at Carlos Murphy's, he
reached into the "Pot-0-
Gold" hoping to win a dis-
count coupon or free dinner
. . . and picked out a gold
plastic coin that was blank
on both sides.
Terry asked the man
running the contest, "Does
that mean I don't win any-
thing?" . . . All of a sudden,
bells rang, horns honked
and he was informed of
winning the grand prize
. . a real solid
K
. ruggerand coin . . . pre-
sented to him last week at
Carlos Murphy's by Kathy
O'Brien of Channel 2.
BROADWAY MAR-
KET opened well ahead of
schedule . . . although
many of the stores are still
not set up as yet . . . It's
really something to see,
though .. well worth any
trip to the Middlebelt and
14 Mile site.

Another wonderful oc-
cupant asset is Vergote's
Other Place .. . fish mar-
ket and seafood spot, whose
place on the east side has
been a respected standby
since 1939 .
