State Department Did Talk
to Israel on Iraq-Iran War -
WASHINGTON (JTA) —
The State Department ad-
mitted last month that it
ussed the Iraqi-Iranian
ar with Israel. But it re-
fused to say whether it had
asked Israel to stop sending
arms to Iran or whether Is- .
rael was, in. fact, sending
arms to that country.
`Exodus' Subject
of Wine Lecture
Rabbi Sherwin Wine will
begin a series of lectures on
"Egypt and Israel" at 8:30
p.m. Monday in the Bir-
mingham Temple.
His topic Monday will be
"Exodus from Egypt — A
Scientific Evaluation."
The public_ is invited at a
charge.
State . Department
spokesman Dean Fischer
however, left the implica-
tion that the arms issue has
been discussed with Israel.
That appeared to be the
gist of Fischer's remarks in`
the wake of news reports
from Baghdad that Iraq has
demanded several times of
the Reagan Administration
that it stop Israel from send-
ing arms to Iran.
