The signers of the report Jewish • Southfield Officer Charges Religious Bias The city of Southfield's civil service board is scheduled March 29 and April 1 to hear the com- plaint of a former Southfield police officer who claims he was fired in January be- cause he is an observant Jew and could not work on the Sabbath. The officer, Jacob Tewel, 32, is being paid pending the outcome of the hearing. Tewel's attorney, Barry Howard, told reporters that Tewel began working as a police officer last June.
