JFS Special Friends Project
Seeking Young Volunteers

Fayga Dombey, coor-
dinator of volunteer ser-
vices for Jewish Family
Service, and Aileen
Kleiman, chairman of the
volunteer services commit-
tee of the agency, have an-
nounced that a "Special
Friends" program is being
developed by JFS.
The aim of the program is
to assist youngsters, many
of whom are being raised in
single parent homes, to de-
velop a sense of trust and
self-worth. A "Special
Friend" can provide a mas-
culine or femine role model
for these youngsters.
Young adults are cur-
rently being recruited by
the agency to be trained to
work with these youngsters.
Both married and single
people who relate well to
children and adolescents,
and who are willing to make
a long range commitment of
a weekly visit, may apply.
In addition to "Special

Friends" JFS is seeking
volunteers willing to visit
the homebound elderly,
both in their own homes
and in nursing homes.
For information or to ar-
range for an interview, call
Mrs. Dombey, 559-1500.
