Founded in 1969 to advise the muncipality, the 'com- mittee is now composed of 50 urban planners and cholars from 15 countries.. Although without recog- nized legal status, the com- mittee's recommendations bear considerable weight.- The final unanimously adopted resolution stated: "We are convinced that the present administration has proved its competence, re- sponsibility and dedication to the sanctity of the city. Jerusalem must never be divided territorially nor re- ndered ungovernable by at- tempted internationaliza- tion."
