The brunch, held in con- junction with the Jewish National Fund, will honor the presidents of all Detroit area Bnai Brith Men's and Women's Councils, lodges, chapters and units. Inaugu- ration ceremonies will be held for the Metro Detroit Bnai Brith Forest, a part of JNF's International "Forest of Peace," located in the Galilee. Israel's 34th year of Independence will be marked. In the 1930s, Gervasi was diplomatic correspondent for the Hearst newspapers. As associate editor of Col- lier's Weekly, Gervasi covered World War II in Af- rica, Europe and the Middle East. His postwar assign- ments brought him to Cairo, where he covered the British Mandate years. Since that time, Gervasi has chronicled the Jewish state. Among his books are "To Whom Palestine," "The Case for Israel," "Thunder Over the Mediterranean" and "Life and Times of Menahem Begin: Rebel to Statesman."
