Members of the Women's
Division of Jewish Welfare
Federation will be calling
8,000 women in the met-
ropolitan Detroit Jewish
community with their an-
nual Phonogift appeal for
the 1982 Allied Jewish
Campaign-Israel Emer-
gency Fund.
As Phonogift workers put
the final touches on plans
for the telethon, to be held
at United Hebrew Schools
from Sunday through
March 21, there is growing
optiniism that the women
called on will renew their
pledge to help others.
Under the direction of
Chairman Sharon Hart and
Associate Chairman Marcia
Parven, Phonogift week
promises to be informative
and exciting for the nearly
400 volunteers participat-
ing. The executive directors
of area Jewish agencies will
speak at various times, ex-
plaining their agencies'
special needs and functions.

TV Show to Look
at Volunteers' Study
The role of the profes-
sional woman volunteer
will be discussed by Carolyn
Greenberg, chairman of the
long-range planning com-
mittee of the Jewish Wel-
fare Federation Women's
Division, on the WJBK-TV
(Channel 2) program "Sun-
day in Detroit" 11 a.m. Sun-
day. Mrs. Greenberg will be
interviewed by Shelby
Tauber, one of the show's
hosts, who also is president
of Women's Division.
In cooperation with the
Social Planning Depart-
ment of Federation, Mrs.
Greenberg and her commit-
tee developed a question-
naire that has been sent to
1,300 Detroit households.
The survey attempts to
examine the attitudes and
involvement of Jewish
women with regard to vol-
untarism.
The Detroit study is being
conducted as part of a
nationwide effort by the 16
largest Women's Division
cities to stimulate . long-
range planning.

Israel Emergency Fund,

Knollwood Country Club

August is chairman of
Federation's Community
Services budgeting and
planning division, and is a
board member of the Jewish
Vocational Service. Mrs.
Ross recently returned from
Israel where she observed

Barbara A. Satinsky,
Women's Division director
of the Jewish Welfare Fed-
eration for almost three
years, will take on major re-
sponsibility within the
overall Allied Jewish
Campaign-Israel Emer-
gency Fund in her other on-
going role as assistant
Campaign director. Among
her expanded duties, she
will coordinate activities of
the Campaign Management
Committee.

Born and raised in
Superior, Wis., Mrs. Passon
has resided in Michigan for
the past 13 years. Among
her previous positions, she
has been controller of the
North Oakland County
Board of Realtors, assistant
to the controller of the
Jewish Community Center,
a teacher and an office
management consultant to
retail stores.
