Beach, Fla., died Feb. 13 at
age 69.
former Detroiter, Mr.
nbaum lived in Palm
BeaCh for the past three
years. He was graduated
from the University of
Michigan and while in De-
troit was a member of the
Engineering Society of De-
troit and the American
Association of • Civil
• Engineers. He was the
Michigan State Director of
Public Works from 1938 to
1940.
He was a full colonel (ret.)
in the U.S. Army. Mr.
Greenbaum was a member
of the Retired Officers Asso-
ciation and received the
Legion of Merit. He was the
commandant, 5906th De-
troit U.S. Army Reserve
School at Ft. Wayne, De-
troit.
Mr. Greenbaum was
active in tasks on behalf
of the American Techn-
ion Society and the
Jewish Theological Sem-
inary. While in Detroit he
was a member of Cong.

Florida, he was a member
of Temple Emanu-El of
Palm Beach.
He is survived by his wife,
Irena; a son, James; three
daughters, Mrs. Jack
(Alice) Arfa, Mrs. Luis
(Marianne) Leiva and Mrs.
Lawrence E. (Ruth)
Nathan; two sisters, Mrs.
Harvey (Caroline) Green
and Mrs. Earl (Elsie) Gil-
man; 12 grandchildren and
one great-grandchild.

Mae Klegon

Mae S. Klegon, a member
of Jewish communal organ-
izations, died Feb. 26 at 68.
Born in Ottawa, Mrs.
Klegon was a member of
Adat Shalom Synagogue
and its sisterhood, and was
a volunteer worker for and a
member of the Sinai Hospi-
tal Guild. She also held
membership in Hadassah,
Women's American ORT
and the Detroit Institute of
Arts.
She leaves her husband,
Ralph B.; a son, Dr. Nor-
- two daughters, Mrs.
(Bette) Halby of New
and Mrs. Richard
(Dorothy) Freedland; three
sisters, Mrs. Earl (Ruth)
Greenberg of Ottawa, Mrs.

NY Disc Jockey

NEW YORK — Murray
Kaufman, former New York
disc jockey who gained fame
in the rock music world as
"Murray the K," died Feb.
21.
Mr. Kaufman befriended
the Beatles rock group
when they first came to the
U.S. and later was dubbed
"the Fifth Beatle."
During the 1950s and
1960s, he was one of the
country's top disc jockeys.
He introduced "progress-
ive" rock music in New
York and was eventually
fired for playing the music
of such controversial artists
as Joan Baez.
