Founded by Issac Os-
cherwitz in 1886, the com-
pany was started in Cincin-
nati.
After mastering the art of
sausage-making Oscher-
witz emigrated from Ger-
many to the United States.
Settlers moving down the
Ohio Ri.rer quickly learned
of the Oscherwitz Sausage
and stocked up to provide
for the trip West, spreading
the distribution of his prod-
ucts throughout the Mid-
west. Best's Kosher prod-
ucts are sold coast-to-coast
with the newest markets
being New York and
Philadelphia.
Today the fourth gen-
eration of the Oscherwitz
family is actively
engaged in the manage-
ment of the company
combining old-world
techniques with health
and diet benefits. Among
the products being of-
fered is a line of beef
items that have a lower
fat content.
