The Best of Everything
(Continued from Page 27)
by a festival parade,
Doug and The Red Garter
Band's Dixieland Rag-
time music, servers in au-
thentic Mardi Gras cos-
tumes and masks and the
traditional crowning of
Rex, King of Carnival.
From his nitery gigs,
political and private par-
ties, Doug still finds time to
cheer the faces of kiddies at
Children's Hospital fund-
raisers . . . as well as being
the house band for the Jerry
Lewis Muscular Dystrophy
Telethon the past 10 years
. . . (It just wouldn't seem
the same here without him.)
NG IS THE real name of
family that owns Golden
Star Restaurant . . . Paul,
Choi and Edmund . . . It's
been on Woodward just
north of Nine Mile in
Ferndale about 50 years
. . . and the Ng family has
owned it 10 years . .
People ask about the name
and can't believe it is their
real one . . . sometimes
even poking fun at it . . .
Not the food, though . . .
which has retained_ the
same quality of goodnesi3
so many years.

WHEN SHE WAS only
8-years old, Barbara Paul
was already so good that
Sammy Woolf had her sing-
ing with his band at the old
Raleigh House.
Today, Barbara is 28, and
the kind of singer Sammy
envisioned she one day
would be . . . Now appear-
ing at the Stephenson Club
on 10 Mile and Stephenson
Hwy. ; Barbara presents the
statured poise and pre-
sentation that great
songstresses must first pos-
sess . . . oozing stylish
character while caressing
the mike on songs like "New
York, New York," "There'll
Never Be Another You,"
"Nine to Five," etc.. . . Her
wide range and versatility
are well appreciated by
those who know a really
good performer.
