Rabbinic Ruling Overturned
by Israel Supreme Court

JERUSALEM — A rab-
binical court order prohibit-
ing a man from entering the
home of his live-in
girlfriend has been over-
turned by the Israel Sup-
reme Court.
The man had been living
with the woman since 1978,
following her separation
from her husband. The rab-
binical court order was is-
sued at the request of the
woman's husband.
The woman claimed that

her husband had refused to
grant her a divorce and that
the Tel Aviv District Court
had barred the husband
from entering the house be-
cause of his harassment of
her and their three chil-
dren. The husband, who is
also living with another
person, was ordered by the
Supreme Court to pay all
court costs.
