NEW YORK (JTA) —
The Emunah Women of
America announced the
launching of a nationwide
campaign to alert Congress
to the danger of the Ad-
ministration's proposal to
sell civilian communica-
tions equipment to an Arab
consortium which includes
the Palestine Liberation
Organization and Libya.
Toby Willig, vice
president of Emunah
Women's Public Affairs,
said the campaign, in the
form of petitions and letter
writing, will stress that
Libya has been cited by the
Administration as the
foremost terrorist country
in the world.
Libyan troops, she noted,
are now training in Poland
and the PLO has been
linked with terrorist groups
around the world, including
the Red Brigade.
A detailed letter has
been sent by the Ad-

film on the subject and the
prime minister's office of-
fered it "every facility and
aid."
ABC News, in issuing its
denial, noted that, during
the preparation of the seg-
ment for last week's "20/20"
program, repeated requests
were made for a responsible
Israeli official to address the
issues raised in the report.
ABC News said it stands
by this broadcast and in-
vites the questions and
comments of the Israeli
government or any other
concerned party.

GENEVA (JTA) —
Michael Novak, the U.S.
delegate to the United Na-
tions Human Rights com-
mission, delivered an im-
passioned defense of Israel
Monday and accused those -
who attack it of forgetting
the Holocaust.
He was replying to a
speech by the Syrian dele-
gate who attacked both Is-
rael and the U.S. in a man-
ner "beyond the bounds of
courtesy, decency and
truth."
Novak declared that "In
the past, those who desire to
annihilate Israel avoided
the dreadful story of the
death camps in which the
Nazis a generation ago at-
tempted to annihilate the
Jews in Europe.
"Today, some try the most
perverse tactics. First they
describe the desire of the
Jews for a homeland as ra-
cism. Now they call it
Nazism. In this absurd and
contemptible way, they
have revealed their own
passion. They wish to de-
stroy and they defame their
victims."

deal for the 22-member
consortium did not mean
that the U.S. was recog-
nizing the PLO and that
the equipment would not

capabilities.
The deal was originally
proposed last October, but
was pulled back the follow-

equipment might have mili-

Congress has until the
end of this month to review
the proposal.

of brutality.
During the 16-minute
documentary, only one Is-

who claims title to disputed
land. But the ABC crew
which went to the West
Bank to film the documen-

the Israeli military gov-

ABC reportedly tried to
include Israeli Defense

the documentary, but ac-

intercut with the Palesti-

The program depicted Is-
