he was director of informa-
tion for the Jewish Agency's
delegation at the UN, and
he held the same post for the
first Israel UN delegation
between 1948 and 1950. He
left for Washington in 1951
to lobby with Congress for
aid for Israel.

Kenen received an hon-
orary doctorate degree at
Hebrew Union College
and was awarded an
honorary fellowship
from the Hebrew Univer-
sity in August 1977.
Kenen organized the first
Young Judea Club in To-
ronto in 1917, after the Bal-
four Declaration. He was
graduated from the Univer-
sity of Toronto in 1925,
worked on the Toronto Star
and the Cleveland News
and was admitted to the
Ohio Bar in 1940.
He was a founder of the
American Newspaper Guild
in Cleveland in 1933,
negotiated early guild con-
tracts and served as an in-
ternational vice president
from 1938 to 1940. He won
the Guild's Heywood Broun
award in 1943.
