JWV Offering
Scholarships

The Department of
Michigan, Jewish War Vet-
erans, is making available
three annual Michigan col-
lege scholarships in the
amount of $300 each.
There are no restrictions
as to race, color, religion,
sex or creed. Any veteran of
the American Armed
Forces, his or her son or
daughter, or grandchild is
eligible. Need for financial
assistance should be
paramount.
Applicants may include
students attending accre-
dited institutions of higher
learning on a college level
as well as members of the
anuary or June 1981 high
school graduating class.
The qualified student
should immediately write a
letter requesting schol-
arship information and
forms to: Scholarship Com-
mittee, 16990 W. 12 Mile,
Southfield, 48076. All com-
pleted forms must be re-
turned by April 15.

Pinsker Elects Harry Laker
President, Celebrates 55th

At its recent installation
meeting, the officers of the
Pinsker Progressive Aid
Society installed Harry
Laker as president.
Laker has served with the
Pinsker Progressive Aid
Society for 50 years and has
served as its president dur-
ing previous terms. His
election as president this
term was a particular honor
in that the PPAS is celeb-
rating its 55th anniversary.
Other elected officers are:
Irving Forman, vice
president; Milton Oleinick,
second vice president; Man-
nie Ekelman, financial sec-
retary; and Fred Katz, trea-
surer.
In celebration of the
55th anniversary, the
PPAS is planning a
dinner-dance banquet to
be held Sept. 12 at Cong.
Beth Achim. Irving Laker
is chairman and Morrey
Katz, co-chairman.
