Counterfeit Ring
JERUSALEM (ZINS) —
Israeli police have confis-
cated millions of dollars
worth of phony $100 U.S.
banknotes and arrested
several members of a coun-
terfeit ring.
The ring has been preying
on persons wishing to
cheaply convert Israeli
shekels into U.S. dollars as
a hedge against inflation.

October was 5,000 shekels
(approximately $350).
Agricultural workers av-
eraged 2,970 shekels ($200)
and electronics and trans-
port workers earned 9,700
shekels per month ($600)
Corporation directors and
El Al pilots earn upwards of
100,000 shekels per month
($7,000)
