PARTIES UP TO 200 Ex-Argentine Jewish Leader Hits Timerman LONDON — Jacobo Timerman's criticism of DAIA, the organization re- presenting the Jewish community in Argentina, has drawn an angry re- sponse from the immediate past president of that organ- ization. Nehemias Resnizky has charged the former Argen- tine publisher with "defa- mation" for asserting that DAIA has neither de- nounced anti-Semitic ac- tivities in Argentina nor publicly defended Zionism. Timerman, who is Jewish, was held captive by the military junta for more than two years before being ex- pelled from the country and settling in Israel. Resnizky said the organ- ization has opposed any manifestation against the interests and the prestige of the Jewish community and that DAIA always publicly denounced anti-Jewish in- cidents in Argentina. Re- snizky also claimed that DATA took part in a "relent- less effort to achieve Timerman's release" follow- ing his arrest.
