Hebrew words, especially names and places appearing in the Bible, have always appeared in English dic- tionaries and have been popularized. Yiddish and Yiddishisms began to appear in English dictionaries three decades ago. Evidence of such recogni- tion is in "An Etymological Dictionary of Modern English," edited by Ernest Weekley (Dover Publica- tions). Weekley's . etymological study proves immensely valuable in linguistics. For the perfection of English, the volume is not only help- ful but becomes mandatory as a study aid. LOVE TO KNIT?
