and supportive of the Pre-
mier's actions were pre-
sented for debate.
The Kol Israel news item
that aroused Begin's,wrath
quoted former Chief of Staff
Haim Barley, a prominent
figure in the opposition
Labor Party, as saying that
he could not sleep peace-
fully while Sharon held the
Defense Ministry post be-
cause Sharon was mentally.
"unbalanced." Barley's re-
marks were taken from an
interview to be published in
a forthcoming issue of the
Labor Party's monthly
magazine Migvan.
Begin instructed the
chief of the prime minis-
ter's office, Yehiel
Kadishai, to demand an
"apology" from Kol Is-
rael for broadcasting the
item. There was no apol-
ogy but the item, broad-
cast at 2 p.m. Jan. 9, was
not repeated in sub-
sequent newscasts.
Begin told the Knesset
that he agreed that a full-
scale debate should be held
on -"whether a state media
should be an anti-
government media." He
claimed the issue was not
"freedom of expression" but
"freedom to cast shame and
insult."
A life spent worthily
should be measured by de-
eds, not years.

BONN (JTA) — West Be-
rlin police arrested six
Palestinians Saturday sus-
pected of involvement in the
bombing of an Israeli res-
taurant there last Friday
night in which 25 persons
were injured, including a
14-month-old child reported
in critical condition. The
suspects were later re-
leased.
The restaurant, Mifdish
Israel, is located in the cen-
ter of the city. A group cal-
ling itself the Peoples
League of Free Palestine
claimed responsibility in an
anonymous telephone call
to the West German news
agency's Berlin office.
(A bomb bias' caused ex-
tensive damage to the Tel
Aviv office of Lufthansa, the
West German airlines,
Saturday and shattered
windows in a wide area •
around Hayarkon Street
where the office is located.
There were no casualties.
Police investigating the in-.
cident said it'may hay een
in retaliation for t est
Berlin bombing.)
Later, another group,
called the Arab May 15
Organization for the Liber-
ation of Palestine, an-
nounced in Beirut that it
had carried out the attack.
The same group had
claimed responsibility for
bombing the El Al office in
Istanbul Jan. 9.
According to West Be-
rlin police, the suspects
detained were believed to
be members of the Popu-
lar Front for the Libera-
tion of Palestine. How-
ever, chief investigator
Manfred Kittlau said
ther was no concrete
evidence implicating
them and that the police
were considering all_pos-
sibilities.
