HAIFA — Archeologists
from Haifa University's
Center for Maritime
Studies have salvaged the
armored tip of an ancient
warship which was de-
signed for ramming enemy
vessels. It was found in the
Mediterranean off Athlit,
just south of Haifa.
The ram — as the ar-
mored tip is called — is a
massive bronze sheath end-
ing in a triple point. Cast in
one piece, it weighs 880
pounds. Parts of the vessel's
bow are still imbedded in it,

NEW YORK — Cable TV
viewers throughout the
country will soon be seeing
made-in-Israel films featur-
ing real-life exploits of the
heroes and heroines of
Magen David Adom, Is-
rael's emergency medical
service.
The four films star the
paramedics, ambulance
drivers, blood bank techni-
cians and volunteers of
Magen David Adorn. Prod-
uction of the films was un-
derwritten by American
Red Magen David for Israel
(ARMDI), the U.S. support
arm of MDA, and they are
available to schools and
organizations on a free-loan
basis.

Divers frequently find
parts of the hulls of ancient
cargo ships, but this is the
first time that part of a war-
ship from the Classical
period has been recovered.
After preservation, the ram
will be displayed at Haifa
University.

LISTENING
POST

OCCASION WAS party
for over 40 people to view "A
Day In The Life of Maryann
Zukosky" on TV's "P.M.
Magazine" . . . but it was
much more than that .. .
There was food and drinks
galore . . . signs of her
clients all over the house .. .
and a better chance to really
know this fine couple .. .
Maryann and Bob Zukosky.
Maryann practices what
she preaches, so to speak .. .
Almost everything in the
house is from a discount op-
eration . . . "Bob is as cheap
as I am," she says. "He won't
pay full price, either."
She's been doing discount
shopping for four years .. .
and this is the third edition
of her book, "A Discount
Shopping Spree _ With
Maryann Zukosky" ... a
compilation of over 750 list-
ings . . . almost everything
and anything . . . People call
Dial For Discounts daily
(547-2700) and find out
where to buy whatever at a
lower price.

In these economic
times, this is quite a boon
... Every day, Monday
Friday,
riday,
Maryann is on with War-
ren Pierce, 2:45 to 3 p.m.,
over WJR Radio . . . tel-
ling what's going on in
the discount world .. .
and on Mondays taking
calls.

Dial For Discounts is a
valued telephone shopping
service at no charge . . . with
four live persons, friends of
Maryann (all have hus-
bands, homes and children)
. . . telling people where to
get good things without
paying retail.
Back to the party . . . even
sons Derek, 10, and Jason,
9, helped out . . . dressed in
bow ties taking coats, etc.
. . . when they weren't eat-
ing all that good food pre-
pared by Chef Kyle Cun-
ningham who caters out and
works at Doug's Body Shop
on Woodward.
Maryann Zukosky knows
where to buy whatever .. .
at a discount . . . The saving
of money for her and Bob
has turned it into a very
useful business venture.

ANNIVERSARY

cially that fine Louis Roth
line . . . The 14-pound gut is
gone after his Scarsdale
Diet . . . and now it's a mat-
ter of exercise . . . pusha-
ways from the table.
RECENT COLUMN ar-
ticle about old Omega So-
cials stirred up long dis-
tance and local phone calls
about names being left out
. . . This is always the case,
but here goes to help keep
peace . . . From Southfield,

was one of the originals),

man, and Joe and Irene
