observance of JNF Month,

highlighted by JNF Sab-
bath, Feb. 6, and Tu
b'Shevat, the New Year for
Trees, Feb. 8.
According to Ruben H.
Isaacs, Greater Detroit JNF
president, area rabbis will
preach sermons on JNF
Sabbath detailing the role
JNF has played for 80 years
in redeeming and reclaim-
ing the land, and settling
the foundation upon which
the state of Israel was
founded.
Tu b'Shevat will be
marked by the traditional
planting of trees by school-
children in particular and
adults, generally.
A number of organiza-
tions are planning the
observance of JNF
Month by arranging spe-
cial programs and meet-

urged the government to re-
call its ambassador from Is-
rael- because of Israel's an-
nexation of the Golan
Heights.
Foreign Minister Max
van der Stoel said he would
not do so even though Hol-
land disapproves of Israel's
action.
