Chef David Bryan at Ala
Cart Cafe in Applegate
Square, Northwestern and
Inkster.
ONE OF THE MOST di-
versified dining spots in the
northwest area is Deli
Unique on Greenfield just
north of 10 Mile.
The gourmet dishes pre-
pared by owner Matt Pre-
ntice . . . (beef Wellington,
tornedoes of beef, etc.) are
much talked-about items
. . . Somewhat forgotten by
so many except those who
know, however, are the de-
licious Jewish-style cooking
of beef flanken, short ribs,
roasted chicken, sweet and
sour stuffed cabbage, etc.
Matt has even perfected
an extraordinarily fine
chopped liver . . . thanks to
Sophie Pfeiffer,
grandmother of his fiance,
Alicia Patler . . . Sophie's
recipe with oodles of eggs
and ginger ale, has given
Matt an ultra chopped liver
at Deli Unique.
While there recently, I
had some delicious chicken
soup with kreplach and
noodles . . . very light and
tasty cheese blintzes . . .
huge, crispy potato latkes
. . . and, of course, that
chopped liver.
Matt and Alicia will be
wed in February . . . and
although a fine cook, he re-
fuses to do any at home . .
that is, as of now.
GYPSY CONCERT at
Gazebo Lounge, Mound Rd.
and 13 Mile, is set for Jan.
25 ... with Billy Rose,
Ziggy Bela, Gus Horvath,
Gypsy Emma and oodles
more making up the eve-
ning of merriment . . . Chef
Bob Szakal will cook up
plenty of Hungarian food for
the evening.
NEW OWNER of Chuck
Joseph's Place For Steak on
Grand River near Outer
Drive retains the name for
six months . . . Chuck
Joseph still owns the one on
12 Mile and Coolidge in
Berkley.
RON CODEN is at J.
Ross Browne's Whaling
Station on Van Dyke be-
tween 12 and 13 Mile
through Jan. 30.
NEW GARDEN Chinese
restaurant in A & P Shop-
ping Center, Coolidge and
Nine Mile, is the rave of
Leah and Harry Zucker
among many other folks
. . . The all-you-can-eat
buffet dinner Sundays and
Wednesdays ($5.95) . . .
and all-you-can-eat buffet
lunch Monday through Fri-
day ($3.95) have been catch-
ing on with much rapidity ;
Each have plenty of
variety . . . especially the
Sunday and Wednesday
dinners with a bevy of good
thingsto eat . . . plus soup
and egg rolls (all you want)
. . . and dishes like almond
boneless chicken, etc.

COMIC JOEY CAMEN,

here recently at Comedy
Castle in Maximillian's on
Woodward, is the son of
localites Dorothy and
Hyman Camen . . . Joey
lives in Los Angeles, works
at the Comedy Store nitery,
has a program on public
television network and was
in the movie, "Hollywood
Knights. -
LEMON PEEL on
Woodward between 14 and
15 Mile in Birmingham has
14 kinds of hand-pattie
ground rounds, 17 other
sandwiches, eight salads,
about 15 omelettes, Greek
dishes, Italian dishes, veal
cutlets, white fish, etc. . . .
almost anything.
The only thing missing
was pizza . . . and now
owners John and Fran
Kales have this . . . plus
Mexican things like Nacho
Supreme (tortilla) chips
with Mexican ground beef,
melted cheese, onions,
green peppers, tomatoes
and olives), Nachos (no
meat), tortilla chips topped
with melted cheese, Nachos
and guacamole chips and
hot sauce.
The pizza at Lemon Peel
is deep dish . . . but not
with all that heavy dough.
