Dr. Geltner has spent 18 years in public education as a high school teacher, coun- selor, school administrator and central district ad- ministrator in Toronto and Michigan. Lobenthal was educated at the University of Chicago, New York Univer- sity and Long Island Uni- versity. His majors were in psychology, sociology and social work. A specialist in the area of race relations, he is a private consultant in civil rights and numbers among his clients nine Michigan school dis- tricts, the Michigan State Department of Educa- tion, five Michigan uni- versities, various com- munity organizations and state and local civil and human rights organ- izations and commis- sions. Lobenthal has taught urban sociology, social prob- lems, race relations and ecology as a faculty member at Wayne State University, the University of Michigan and other area universities. Lobenthal is a member of the Michigan State Advi- sory Committee to the United States Commission on Civil Rights, and is vice president of the Applied Re- search Teams of Michigan (ARTOM), a non-profit re- search corporation serving civil rights and labor and community groups. He has authored and co-authored several books and serves on the boards of numerous human relations organiza- tions. Prior to his association with the ADL, Lobenthal was a U.S. representative to the United Nations Educa- tional, Scientific and Cul- tural Organization's (UN- ESCO) cultural exchange program and also was a con- sultant with the-U.S. State Department.
