More than 500 individuals are expected to volunteer their services as phone- callers that Sunday. To date, the following temples have indicated that the congregation rabbi and/or a guest speaker will be talking about the needs of Campaign at Friday night services: Temple Is- rael, Jane Sherman, Feder- ation Women's Division Campaign chairman, on "One People Indivisible"; Temple Beth El, sermon by Martin E. Citrin, Council of Jewish Federations •president and former Fed- eration president, and in- troduction by Temple President Marvin H. Goldman, 1981 Campaign general chairman; Temple Kol Ami, Rabbi Ernst Con- rad; and,Birmingham Tern- ple, Rabbi Sherwin Wine. Synagogues scheduled to observe the Campaign . Synagogues and temples throughout the metropoli- tan Detroit area will be par- ticipating in the annual Campaign - Federation Sabbath next weekend, Jan. 8-9. The dates have been set aside to remind Jews of the importance of tzedaka (charity) in Jewish tradi- tion and the vital role played by the Jewish Wel- fare Federation and its agencies. The Campaign - Federa- tion Sabbath will be a pre- lude to a major telephone drive for the Allied Jewish Campaign - Israel Emer- gency Fund, 9:30 a.m.-8 p.m. Jan. 17 at the United Hebrew Schools. Kogan and Joel D. Tauber, general chairmen of the 1982 Allied Jewish Campaign - Israel E;ner- gency Fund, have an- nounced the appointment of chairmen to five subcom- mittees of the Campaign Management Committee. Beginning this year, Campaigh leadership has been divided into two categories: Major Gifts and the Campaign Management Committee, each having its own subcommittees. The Major Gifts Chairmen were announced previously. The five chairmen are Dr. Richard Krugel, missions; Shelby Tauber, new pros- pects; Ruth K. Broder, worker recruitment and training; Stanley D. Frankel, upgrade; and I. William Sherr, collection review. chairman this year. He is a board member of Fresh Air Society. Dr. Krugel and his com- mittee will organize the lead trips to Israel and other overseas destinations, where participants will learn about the needs of Jewish communities who benefit from Campaign. Mrs. Tauber, a member of the Federation Board of Governors, is serving her second term as president of the Federation Women's Division. She had been a vice president of the di- vision since 1978, and also served as chairman of its Campaign and executive committees. The Special Gifts Section of the Jewish Welfare Fed- eration Metropolitan Divi- sion will present guest speaker George M. Zeltzer, chairman of the Federation Executuve Committee, at a meeting on behalf of the 1982 Allied Jewish Cam- paign - Israel Emergency Fund. The event, including continental breakfast, takes place 9:45 a.m. Jan. 10 at the Jewish Commu- nity Center's Jimmy Pre- ntis Morris Branch in Oak Park. Zeltzer, president of Fed- eration from 1978 to 1981, has served the Detroit and national Jewish commu- nity in many capacities. He is a former president of the United Hebrew Schools and chairman of the Midrasha College of Jewish Studies. Zeltzer Nationally, served as chairman of the Council of Jewish Federa- tions Large City Budgeting Conference and currently Dr. Krugel was the 1981 recipient of the Frank A. Wetsman Memorial lead- ership Award, given an- nually to an exceptional young communal leader. He is chairman of the medical physicians sec- tion of the Professional Service Division. For three years, Dr. Krugel served on Federation's Culture and Education budgeting and planning division. He has been a member of the United Jewish Appeal National Young Leadership Cabinet, serving as a mis- sion co-chairman in 1980-1981 and campaign committee will seek to bring nto Campaign newcomers t o the community and others who previously have not participated. A former vice chairman and chair- man of the Services-Arts and Crafts Campaign Di- vision, he is a board member of the United Hebrew Schools and a vice president of the Detroit Service Group. A former member of Federation's Board of Gov- ernors, he is the current chairman of the collection review committee, associate chairman of cash mobiliza- tion and a member of the central fund for traditional institutions. LONDON (ZINS) — The London Observor recently published a PLO mem , which stated that the terrc, group wants to re-establish bases in Jordan. According to the memo, signed by Yasir Arafat and other PLO leaders, "Jordan is the only place where it would be possible to reach the.
