Oak Park history teacher Aaron Goff leads a
small group session on the realities of concentration
camp life at the third annual Youth Symposium on the
Holocaust at Wayne State University. The symposium
was coordinated by the Jewish Community Council of
Metropolitan Detroit, the Detroit Round Table of the
National Conference of Christians and Jews, and as-
sistefl by the WSU Center for Peace and Conflict
Studies, Jewish Educators Council, Detroit Public
Schools, schools office of the Archdiocese of Detroit
and the Detroit Federation of Teachers.

citizen, will be
memorialized in a schol-
arship fund by the National
Ladies Auxiliary, Jewish
War Veterans of the U.S.A.,
Inc.
Wallenberg is the
Swedish diplomat believed
to be still alive in a prison in
the Soviet Union, who was
instrumental in saving the
lives of nearly 100,000
Hungarian Jews during the
Holocaust.

Fruit Bars

cup margarine
1 cup honey
1 /2 tsp. vanilla
11/4 cups flour
3 eggs
1 tsp. baking powder
3/4 cup dates
1 /2 cup raisins
3/4 cups chopped walnuts
Blend all ingredients except
fruit and nuts. Then stir in the
fruit and nuts with a spoon.
Grease a 9x9-inch square pan
and spread batter in it. Bake at
350 degrees for 30 minutes.
Cool. Cut into bars 1x3 inches.
Makes approximately 3 dozen
bars.
