convention in Boston,
Mass., last week. The con-
vention was held concur-
rently with the Union of
American Hebrew- Congre-
gations' convention, at
which the first Rabbi Leon
Fram Lecture, endowed by
Rabbi Fram of Temple Is-
rael, in honor of his 85th
birthday, was delivered by
U.S. Ambassador to Israel
Samuel Lewis. '

Shapiro Addresses Sinai
Meeting; Donors Are Cited

Dr. Harold T. Shapiro,
president of the University
of Michigan, delivered the
third annual Esther B. Mel-
len Memorial Lecture at the
annual meeting of Sinai
Hospital of Detroit. Irving
A. Shapiro, Sinai's execu-
tive vice president, also
, de-
livered a talk.
Other highlights of the
1981 annual meeting in-
cluded the recognition of
several individuals who
have made contributions to
the hospital's programs.
Dr. Julien Priver, Sinai's
first executive vice presi-
dent, was honored with the
unveiling of his portrait
slated to hang in the Outer
Drive Lobby named in his
honor. Dr. Priver retired in
1979.
Louis C. Blumberg, a
Sinai trustee, was hon-
ored for a generous gift"
by dedication of the
north tower as the Louis
C. and Edith B. Blumberg
Wing. - Blumberg has
made contributions to-
ward the construction of
the Louis C. and Edith B.
Blumberg Professional
Building.

Nathan I. Goldin was rec-
ognized for a contribution
which will be used to help
build the Nathan and Betty
Goldin Ambulatory Care
Center in a suburban loca-
tion.
Ruth Shapero was pre-
sented with a plaque com-
memorating the 25th an-
niversary of Sinai's Shapero
School of Nursing. In 1955,
the Nate S. and Ruth B.
Shapero Foundation and
the Cunningham Drug. Co.
Foundation committed
funds toward the estab-
lishment of the school of
nursing.
Pola Friedman, president
of the Sinai Hospital Guild,
announced that the Arch of
Friends Endowment Fund
has grown to $490,000. The
goal of this program is to
raise $1 million for Sinai's
Cardiovascular Care Prog-
ram.
Six persons were re-
elected to three-year terms
on the hospital's board of
trustees. They are: J.
Richard Cooper, Erwin S.
Simon, Richard Sloan,
Robert A. Steinberg, Har-
vey Willens and Paul Zuc-
kerman.
