and President Hosni
Mubarak of Egypt to the
United States to resume the
negotiations.
He said the U.S. should
"put its eggs in the only
basket we have to bring
about peace, namely, Camp
David."
Referring to the recent
rise in anti-Semitism in
this country, Kemp said
that "there will be more

REP. JACK KEMP

his address that "we can-
not remain silent" and he
indicated that he was
proud that he is a "strong
supporter of Israel."
Ivan Novick, president of
the ZOA, told the gathering
that the strategic coopera-
tion pact the U.S. signed
with Israel last week should
be followed through "in a
concrete manner so that at
an early date more substan-
tive ties between these two
democratic nations will be
established."
He added that "Any Saudi
initiative, now or in the fu-
ture, cannot be tied in with
the stipulation that the ter-
rorist PLO be included or
involved in negotiations"
for peace in the Mideast.
The banquet honored
Milton Shapiro of Great
Neck; Long Island, a New
York attorney and com-
munal leader, "for his out-
standing service to the
ZOA."
It was announced that a
Department of Languages
will be established in honor
of Shapiro and his wife,
Beatrice, at Kfar Silver,
ZOA's secondary school
complex in Ashkelon, Is-
rael.

Israel to Boost
Orthodox Travel

JERUSALEM (JNI) —
The Ministry of Tourism
has developed new prog-
rams to attract Orthodox
Jewish tourists to Israel.
Until now, many Orthodox
Americans and Europeans
have preferred Miami and
Acapulco to Israeli resorts.
The Ministry will ask all
hotels to provide synagogue
facilities and will design
talmudic study programs to
be combined with tourist ac-
tivities. The first interna-
tional conference of Jewish
cantors will be held in
Jerusalem next year.
