By ALAN HITSKY Michigan played host over the weekend to a three-man delegation from the Egyptian Embassy in Washington which is seek- ing to broaden that Middle East country's ties to the United States. Minister of Commerce and Economics El-Farouk Chelbaya, economist Dr. Roushdi Barakat and edu- cational consultant Dr. Hassan Ghoneim toured Jordan College near Grand Rapids and Lawrence Insti- tute of Technology in South- field. According to Dr. John Halick of Grand Rapids, one of the organizers of the tour, the Egyptian visit was de- signed to foster technologi- cal and educational inter- raction and to promote good foreign relations. Participants included businessman Marvin Frankel and architect Louis Redstone: Frankel was one of the panel members, along with the three Egyptians, Dr. Halick and Dr. Robert Johnson of Energy Conver- sion Devices in Troy. The delegation visited working solar energy projI ects on the Jordan College campus and discussed solar energy and other projects that could help their nation.
