$2.5 Million in Bonds Sold
at Shaarey Zedek Parlor

°

Shaarey Zedek's Israel Bond honoree Henry
Dorfman is shown seated with his wife Mala and
members of the tribute committee: from left, Harvey
Weisberg, guest speaker Nitza Ben-Elissar, Cantor
Chaim Najman, David Holtzman, hosts David and
Doreen Hermelin, Rabbi Irwin Groner and Irving
Laker.

A leadership reception in
advance of Sunday's Cong.
Shaarey Zedek tribute
dinner for Israel Bonds
realized $2.5 million in Is-
rael Bond subscriptions in
tribute to honoree Henry
Dorfman.
The event, hosted by
David and Doreen Herme-
lin, was addressed by Nitza
Ben-Elissar, wife of Israel's
first ambassador to Egypt.
She was introduced by Ivan
Bloch, newly-elected
president of the Metro De-
troit State of Israel Bonds
Prime Minister's Club.
David Hermelin chaired
the meeting. Recently
elected to the post of Israel
Bonds national campaign
co-chairman, he declared
that following the AWACS
sale Israel must re-evaluate
its relationships with other
governments but that in the

final analysis the arming of
its enemies will cost Israel
more money for defense
needs and Israel must reach
out to its friends in the
world for low cost loans to
continue its vital economic
development program.
Others participating in
the reception program
were Rabbi Irwin Groner
and Irving Laker, tribute
dinner chairman.
Keynote speaker at Sun-
day's dinner will be Simhr
Dinitz, Israel ambassador to
the United States, and U.S.
Senator Donald W. Riegle,
Jr., who actively worked
against the AWACS sale.
Dinitz will present Dorfman
with Israel Bonds' 30th An-
niversary Silver Medal.
Tribute dinner reserva-
tions can be made by calling
Shaarey Zedek, 357-5544;
or Israel Bonds, 557-2900.
