In another development,
the Federal Minister for
Interior Affairs, Gerhart
Baum, has rejected re-
peated accusations that
authorities have been too
soft toward neo - Nazi
groups. He said police and
state prosecution have ad-
justed quickly to develop-
ments in the past two years,
and have dramatically
stepped up their actions
against right-wing vio-
lence.

cent criticism at the
Cabinet of the Jewish
Agency's behavior — criti-
cism which was angrily re-
jected by the agency. Some
ministers claimed that the
agency was not providing
promised funds for project

to specific projects.
At the meeting Monday,
Dulzin was flanked by
Yehiel Admoni, the agen-
cy's Project Renewal direc-
tor and Levy by Deputy
Minister Moshe Katzav, the
government's chief coor-
dinator for the project.
An agency spokesman
announced that there would
be henceforth:
• A "coordinated policy,"
• Jointly-taken decisions
on specific implementation,
• An effort to weed out
needless duplication, and
• Joint supervision over
both government and
agency budgets for project
Renewal.Dulzin expressed
satisfaction at housing
work connected with Project
Renewal in a number of
neighborhoods and hoped
the new decision on top level
coordination would lead to
speedier progress in the fu-
ture in implementing proj-
ect renewal.
Premier Begin, in his
speech opening the winter
Knesset session, called on
government and opposition
to regard Project Renewal
as a national undertaking
above party-politics.

The 1981 edition of a
Yiddish-language booklet
describing the Supplemen-
tal Security Income (SSI)
beenfits offered to aged,
blind and disabled residents
of New York state is now
available at local Social Se-
curity offices throughout
New York.
The publication, jointly
produced by the American
Jewish Congress and the
Social Security Administra-
tion, has been issued since
1975.

Surprise on Mosque Issue

TEL AVIV.(JTA) — The
affair of the Hassan Bek
Mosque on the Tel Aviv -
Jaffa border abandoned 30
years ago and in serious dis-
repair, and which has be-
come an object of friction be-
tween Jews and Moslems,
took a bizarre turn Tuesday
when the government sud-
denly announced that it and
the surrounding area had
been requisitioned and had
been government property
for over a year.
Mayor Shlomo Lahat, his
town planning committee
which had met only recently
to re-plan the region, and
Gershon Peres, who had
bought the concession for its
commercial exploitation, all
expressed surprise, saying
this was the first they had
heard of the state move.
The requisition order had
apparently been published
in an issue of the official
gazette which nobody had
read — including the Mos-
lem Religious Land Trust
Authority.
When the announce-
ment was made at a meet-
ing of the Knesset Fi-
nance Committee Tues-
day, Mayor Lahat
breathed a sigh of relief,
saying the government

would now have to repair
the mosque and keep it in
order — which he
claimed had been his in-
tention all along.
Peres, brother of Labor
Party Chairman Shimon
Peres, said the question was
now one of compensation.
The Moslem Waqf appeared
to be speechless and had no
comment to make.
Gershon Peres said the
announcement in the offi-
cial gazette did not give any
details of the area requisi-
tioned, which appeared to
cover several acres around
the mosque area, on which a
number of buildings have
been built in the past few
years.
