Rd. and 14 Mile. Road.
WHEN MANY folks
hear the expression 24-hour
operation, they think only
of short order food .
something to grab in a
hurry or without too much
trouble to make, low over-
head insofar as help is con-
cerned and the owners
never around.
The Ram's Horn is quite
different . . .12 Mile east of
Northwestern eatery at
least, is a case in point . . .
with lunch and dinner spe-
cials . . . well-prepared
food served all 24 hours (ex-
cept specials) . . . plenty of
help to serve at what has be-
come a major stopover for so
many people . . . and no ab-
sentee ownership or man-
agement.
The former Egg Castle
and Southfield House. open
since Dec. 18, 1950, has al-
ready made its mark as a
fine neighborhood restau-
rant and meeting place .
with its staff of workers
headed by General Man-
ager Bob Matley . . . and
owners Jack Mastan and
Tom Pantaleon . . . either
of whom are usually pre-
sent.
The warm interior with
165 seating, including a
nine-stool counter, is
enhanced by earthy tan and
brown tones, live hanging

and exciting merchandise.

AT RALEIGH SQUARE MARKETPLACE
"WE'VE MADE SHOPPING FUN AGAIN"

Look for upcoming Grand Opening ads for
more information or call Monday through Friday
9-5 at 352-6420.

The airiness is a quick dis-
covery and achieved by re-
moval of two poles that
seemed to previously sepa-
rate the place.
Ram's Horn has Greek,
Mexican, Italian and
American food . . . Lo-cal
roast beef and lo-cal spinach
quiche . . . plus lobster
broil, $2.99, lobster salad
platter $3, lobster salad
sandwich $2.99.
I had a delicious lobster
melt ($2.79) . . . lobster
salad topped with melted
cheese and served on grilled
rye bread . . . Sneaky
Treats has the desserts at
Ram's Horn . . . with lo-cal,
no sugar, no additives, etc.
. . I had one of many there
. . . a brownie fudge roll
with insert of chocolate
mousse . . . and it was de-
licious . . . but even better
knowing it was from
Sneaky Treats.
Ram's Horn cooks all its
food on the restaurant
premises . . . turkey, chic-
ken, etc . . . open seven
days a week . . . The one on
12 Mile and Northwestern
has not only become a place
to eat . . . but also to say
hello . . . shades of yester-
day's Darbys.
I had been to the coming
out party of Detroit's Zoo's
first family of Rams that
day . . and a drive is now
on to get the cute animals a
mountain home . . . Caps
from Seven Up/Canada Dry
products are worth 1/2 cent
donation by the company
. . . Ram's Horn restau-
rants have canisters for
loose change and the caps,
which can be deposited
there or the Detroit Zoo,
Total Stations and many
bowling alleys.
THE LAST TWO per-
formances of "Le Brel
Carousel" are this Friday
and Saturday in the Grease
Pit Theater at Doug's Body
Shop on Woodward between
Eight and Nine Mile . .
Beginning next Friday and
Saturday will be the origi-
nal musical revue, "Accord-
ing To John/Paul" . . .
featuring the music of John
Lennon and Paul
McCartney.
PARTHENON DAN-
CERS of Greece (40 young
men and women) present
their display of Greek
music, dance and folklore
this Monday at Detroit's
Music Hall.

detailed map mural on wall
at Alexander's Restaurant,
Nine Mile east of Coolidge,
gives the story depicting
Alexander The Great's his-
toric 12-year rise . . . con-
quering lands and exchang-
ing cultures . . . A couple of
doors, hand-printed with
the story of Alexander The
Great, that took 26 hours of
work, tells a complete story
of his march and of the man
himself . . . at age 20 con-
quering the greatest empire
yet seen . . . going 3,000
miles into regions no Euro-
peans had been . . . fight-
ing armies 15 times the size
of his.
