Rosen- _ baum of Cong. Bnai Moshe will deliver the invocation at the opening ceremonies of the National League of Cities convention which is being hosted this year by the city of Detroit. The convention, which begins Nov. 30, is expected to be attended by 3,000- 6,000 mayors, city mana- gers and city council mem- bers. Initial plans for the opening ceremonies include a keynote address by Vice President George Bush and a tribute to the late Mayor David Shepherd of Oak Park, who was the local co- chairman of the convention. Funds for UJA JERUSALEM (JTA) — The recent President's Mis- sion of Keren Hayesod con- tributed $3 million dollars to the United Israel Appeal, according to Dr. Avraham Avihai, chairman of Keren Hayesod. concert pianist with the Moscow Concert Organiza- tion, and Viktor Yoran, a prize-winning Soviet cellist and student of Ros- tropovitch. Yoran left the Soviet Union in November 1968 to participate in a cul- tural exchange program in Western Europe. While there, he sought the aid of Jewish organizations and went to Israel. He has been trying to get his fam- ily out of the Soviet Union ever since. Meanwhile, his wife applied to emigrate with her son and mother-in-law in the hope of joining her husband in Israel. She has repeatedly been denied permission to emigrate. She was removed from her posi- tion from the concert organ- ization and teaches piano lessons to support her fam- ily.
