Bnai Moshe will honor Shalom Ralph, for more than 33 years the ritual director (sexton) of the synagogue, at the an- nual Bnai Moshe Israel Bond dinner on Dec. 6 in the synagogue's social hall. The announcement was made by Dr. Leonard Demak, con- gregation president, and Rabbi Stanley Rosenbaum. The dinner will be chaired by Bernard Klein and Abraham Pasternak. A tribute committee is in for- mation. Ralph was born in Po- land, the younger of two brothers and a half-sister. His father was a "yeshiva bokhur"; his mother died when Shalom was three. His father re-married and the Ralph family later moved to Palestine where Shalom was educated at Bet Sayfer . Tachkemoni in Jerusalem. When the fam- ily immigrated to. the United States, they eventu- ally settled in Detroit where a livelihood was earned at their confectionary store in Hamtramck. Ralph became active in Mizrachi and in the Young Israel movement._ SHALOM RALPH Ralph accepted the posi- tion of sexton of Bnai Moshe in 1948. In addition to his duties with the synagogue he has been an active He- brew and Bar Mitzva tutor and a certified mohel. The honoree is a member of Pisgah Lodge of Bnai Brith, Red Magen David, Friends of Shaare Zedek Hospital in Jerusalem and Bichur Cholim Hospital, Jerusalem. Ralph will be the reci- pient of the "Lion of Judah-Peace Award." For dinner reservations, call Is- rael Bonds, 557 - 2900. -
