Dinner chairman is Irving Laker, general chairman of Shaarey Zedek's effort for Isfael Bonds is David B. Hermelin, Israel Bonds' na- tional campaign co- chairman. Ambassador Dinitz is an authority on Israel's foreign policy and politi- cal affairs. Presently, he serves as vice president of Hebrew University in Jerusalem. Born in 1929 in Tel Aviv, he received his primary and secondary education before joining Israel's defense forces in the War of Inde- pendence in 1948. At the end of the war, he came to the U.S. to study political science at the University of Cincinnati. In 1951, he transferred to Washington, D.C. to serve at the Embassy of Israel while completing his undergraduate studies. He attended the Georgetown University School of Foreign Service, receiving his Bachelor of Science de- gree in Foreign Service (cum laude) in 1954, fol- lowed by his Master of Sci- ence degree from the Georgetown University Graduate School, where he specialized in international law. Between 1951 and 1958, he was attached to the Department of Informa- tion at Israel's Embassy in Washington. He also served as director of information for the Foreign Ministry, director of the Foreign Ministry cabinet, member of the Is- rael delegation to the United Nations, political adviser to Golda Meir and director general of the Prime Ministers Office. He has written a number of article's in the fields of political science and inter- national law. Clemens, Ada Eisenfe1/41 won the mayoral race. In Oak Park, Charlotte Rothstein won a write-in campaign to defeat Norman Goldman for mayor. She was also elected to one of two seats on the city council. Arthur Frolich won the other seat. Mrs. Rothstein has said that she would resign the council seat in order to accept the mayor's posi- tion. The council will have to select a replace- ment or schedule a new election. In Southfield, incumbent Mayor Donald Fracas-si de- feated challenger Sidney Lantz. Winning seats on the city council were John Be- ras, Peter Christiano, Suzanne Goldstein and Steve Hurite. In Detroit, former City Council President Mel Ravitz won his bid to return to the council. Danger is often overcome by those who nobly dare. Robert V.
