Dinkins, had waited until the last minute to dis- avow anti-Semitic state- ments by some of his sup- porters. There have been state- ments that "smack of anti- Semitism," according to Dinkins. The deputy minister's an- nouncement followed con- tact with "worried parents" and the recent cancelling under pressure from Jewish leaders-of an international "Moonies" conference slated for Jerusalem.
