Congressional Effort to Curb U.S. Courts Opposed by ADL
SAN FRANCISCO—The
Anti-Defamation League of
Bnai Brith has urged the de-
feat of Congressional at-
tempts to-curb the jurisdic-
tion of the U.S. Supreme
Court and other federal
courts in constitutional and
civil rights cases.
Late last month, the
league's national executive
committee passed a resolu-
tion calling the proposed
limitations on court power
"dangerous" because they
would make Congress the
"ultimate arbiter" in such
vital areas as public school
prayers, abortion and school
desegregation.
