next April.
They have confirmed that
the subject was touched on
at the recent European
Economic Community
(EEC) meeting in London
and that it. could come up
again next Monday when
Lord Carrington, Britain's
Foreign Secretary and
chairman of the EEC's
Council of Ministers, opens
a two-day meeting of the
Council in Luxembourg.
But they are clearly em-
barrassed by French
President Francois Mitter-
rand's indication last week
that France would be will-
ing to supply troops to the
Sinai force, as well as by
similar hints from Rome.
The British say that

approves of the Camp
David peace process, its
main aim at present is to
soften the opposition of
other Arab states by fos-
tering greater participa-
tion by the Palestine Lib-
eration Organization.
Since this has not yet
been achieved, Mitter-
rand was running ahead
of the game, sources said.
The British attribute the
French and Italian readi-
ness to supply_ troops in
Sinai to their eagerness to
bolster President Hosni
Mubarak of Egypt. How-
ever, they think this should
not be done without greater
Israeli compliance over the
Palestinians' role in the
peace process.
Meanwhile, Australian
Prime Minister Malcolm
Fraser indicated last week —
that his country may now be
ready to add a contingent to
the Sinai force.

_31111 artist is Louky Metz,
a'-worilen of Jewish origin,
who was commissioned to do
the sculpture 15 years ago
by a group of non-Jewish
citizens of Rotterdam.
The prolonged delay be-
tween completion of the
work and its dedication
arose because originally it
was to have been placed on
the outer wall of the Rotter-
dam synagogue.

It was, in fact, unveiled
there, but Orthodox
members of the Jewish
community objected be-
casue the sculpture de-
picted human bodies —
the Patriarchs Abraham,
Isaac and Jacob — and
the statue was removed.
Metz instituted legal pro-
ceedings which, after many
years, ended in an agree-
ment to locate the sculpture
at a "neutral" site.

WB Arab Political Exiles
May Be Allowed to Return

JERUSALEM (JTA) —
The announcement that
former Mayor Nadim Zarou
of Ramallah, deported in
1969 for alleged subversive
activities, will be allowed to
return to the West Bank,
has raised speculation here
that more Arab political de-
portees will be allowed to
return on condition that
they do not engage in politi-
cal activities.
This ties in with what has
been characterized as a
more liberal policy in the
occupied territories under-
taken by Defense Minister
Ariel Sharon.
The return of Zarou is in-
terpreted in some quarters
as a sign that the gates will
now be opened to exiled
pro-Jordanian leaders as a
counter-force to pro-
Palestine Liberation
Organization elements on
the West Bank.
But, military sources
said that there is no new
policy. They said each
deportee requesting
permission to return will
be examined on the
merits of his cases.
The military government
recently recommended
against the return Of the
two West Bank Mayors,
Fished Kawasme
of Hebron

The firm, headed by Nis-
sim Gaon, who is also
president of the World Fed-
eration of Sephardic Jews,
is managed by an Israeli,
.Yitzhak Ormiron. The con-
tract was signed' with the
National Insurance Corp. of
Nigeria.
The hotel, to be known as
the Nicon Noga Hilton, wilr
have 1,000 rooms and a con-
ference center and will be
rated five stars — the top
world class rating.
