Born in Baghdad, Mrs.
Mutchnick's family traces
its background in Iraq to the
time of the destruction of
the First Temple 3,000
years ago. In 1950, upon ex-
pulsion of the Jews in Iraq,

in Arab countries that was
delivered to the Middle East
Studies Conference.
She holds degrees in
political science and
sociology from the Uni-
versity of Michigan and
has conducted many
studies on Jews from

Lecture Slated
Dr. Edmund D. Pelleg-
rino, president of the
Catholic University of
America, will speak on "The
Structure of Medical Ethi-
cal Decision Making" for
the third annual Myer
Teitelbaum Medical Ethics
Memorial Lecture spon-
sored by the Wayne State
University School of
Medicine. The lecture will
be at noon, Wednesday, in
Scott Hall in the Detroit
Medical Center. There is no
charge.
In addition to his role as
president, Dr. Pellegrino is
professor of biology and phi-
losophy at the Catholic
University of America and
professor of clinical
medicine and community
medicine at Georgetown
University School of
Medicine.
Dr. Pellegrino has served
as president and chairman
of the board of directors of
Yale-New Haven Medical
Center, chancellor of the
Center for the Health Sci-
ences at the University of
Tennessee, senior visiting
scientist at Brookhaven Na-
tional Laboratories and
dean of the School of
Medicine at State Univer-
sity of New York at Stony
Brook.
Dr. Pellegrino is the
author of two books as
well-as 250 articles and
papers in the fields of
, medicine, medical educa-
tion, philosophy and the
humanities. He is the
founder and editor of the
Journal of Medicine and
Philosophy and serves on
the editorial boards of 15
other publications.
The Myer Teitelbaum
Medical Ethics Memorial
Lecture commemorates Dr.
Teitelbaum, an internist at
Detroit General Hospital
and clinical assistant pro-
fessor at Wayne State Uni-
versity School of Medicine,
who died in 1975.
