An official Arab spokes- man appeared at the Satur- day afternoon session to ad- vocate the views of the anti-Israel elements. Knowledgeable observers said there was evidence of large funds coming from Arab quarters, especially Iraq and Saudi Arabia, sup- porting the activities of the newly formed Arab groups and their developing pro- grams which are primarily anti-Israel. The large com- munity of Chaldeans is being drawn in as partici- pants in these efforts. Atlanta Election Has Racial Tone ATLANTA — The race for mayor of Atlanta took on racial overtones last week when incumbent Mayor Maynard Jackson called black supporters of State Rep. Sidney Marcus "Neg- roes" who were "shuffling and grinning around the camp of our opponent." Jackson, who cannot run for re-election after serving two terms, is campaigning for Andrew Young, former U.S. amabassador to the United Nations. The general election will be held on Tuesday. Jackson said that a seg- ment of Atlanta's business community had been engaged in a two-year strategy to elect a white mayor. Christians Plan 50,000 Tree Forest in Israel JERUSALEM (JTA) — Christian supporters of Is- rael are planning a 50,000- tree forest as an expression of solidarity with the Jewish state. Some 3,000 Christian pilgrims from around the world gathered in the country during the Sukkot holiday. 'The pilgrims planted a number of trees in the Jewish National Fund planting center in Jerusalem last week as an act of solidarity with the city as the eternal capital of Israel. They also set up a large sukka at the Binyanei Haooma convention center here. The JNF provided the sukka with 4,000 willow branches from the Menashe forest. Arafat Murder Plot Revealed VIENNA — A plot to as- sassinate PLO leader Yas- ser Arafat has been un- covered by Austrian authorities. Details of the plan, repor- tedly organized by Syria, were revealed in Vienna last week by two Palesti- nian terrorists who were ac- cused of attacking a synagogue here last August. " '
