stating, "Because I had the
people of Israel dwell in
sukkot" (on their way out of
Egypt as they passed
through the wilderness.)
There are two interpreta-
tions of this statement in
the talmudic literature.
One interpretation,states
that sukkot are required be-
cause the Hebrews lived in
such temporary dwellings
in the course of the travels
from Egypt to the Holy
Land which lasted 40 years.
It is thus a reminder of the
temporary shelters Jews
lived in going from place to

place.

A second interpretation of
the biblical reasoning states
that the sukka represents
the "Clouds of Glory" which
the Almighty placed over
the heads of the wandering
Jews to give them direction
and to protect them. The
sukka, especially its top,
-would thus represent the
protection which the Al-
mighty affords his "Chosen
People."

Although Jews have a tradition of maintaining their cultural
heritage, they also have the reputation of becoming an integral part
of the community they live irr. And Scotland is no exception.
Glasgow prides itself on having the only Jewish pipe-hand in
the world. And one of the city's largest kilt-makers
is Jewish.
Scotland's-most famous pioduct is fine Scotch
whisky. And America's favorite scotch is J&B. We -
carefully select the finest scotches and blend them for
smoothness and subtlety. The result is why we say that
J&B whispers. •
No matter-where your friends or guests conic
I
from, serve them J&B to j,
