Tours Detroit Area Kosher Food Producers . chief kashrut expert of the Union . of Orthodox Jewish Congregations of America as well as the Rabbinical Council of America, was in Detroit last week to tour the local companies that man- ufacture kosher food pro- ducts under supervision of the Metropolitan Kashruth Council, principally Wes- ley's Quaker Maid Ice Cream Co. of Detroit. Wesley's has been under the Kashruth Council's rabbinical supervision since 1912, except for a brief period, during which it was under supervision of the UOJCA, also through the agency of Rabbi Jack Goldman who was then the OU representative for this region. Rabbi Goldman is the administrator of the Kashruth Council. At Wesley's, the council had not approved all of the ice cream products, but only those that bear the council's seal of kashrut, the letter "K" in a shield. Wesley's products without the kas- hrut emblem are not kosher. T.
