The Best of Everything
THREE WORDS is
about all one needs to say
about Fox and Hounds on
Woodward in West Bloom-
field ... A Class Opera-
tion ... Top quality food,
fine service, delightful sur-
roundings and good prices.
Kevin Downey has been
sole owner of- Fox and
Hounds for two years . . .
and takes pride in people
like Kay Blake, excellent
hostess around town for so
many years . . . Waitresses
such as Lyn Papich, smil-
ing, efficient and courteous
. Very good executive chef
John Gingiloski . and
general manager Chuck
Negohosian ... One of the
prime factors in running a
successful restaurant is to
be surrounded by competent
personnel . .. This Kevin
has done with much merit.
-We had lunch there re-
cently ... one of those great
ground rounds at Fox and
Hounds ... When you order
a chopped sirloin, that's
exactly what you get ... the
prime sirloin steak pieces
are ground up in the kitchen
and molded as hamburgers.
So much is done on the
Fox and Hounds' prem-
ises ... making own
marinade for its meats .. .
own cheese cake ... own
soup and salads ... own
salad dressings, etc.
Beginning this Sunday
. 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. ..
Kevin will introduce his
first brunch ... a weekly
feature ... with the $7.95
adult price and $4.95 chil-
dren 12-and-under price in-
cluding over 30 items .. .
and beverage.
prepared by new head chef
David Bryant... Also, the
salad bar is not an ordinary
one . . . There's glass bowls
instead of flat dishes . . . and
it's a combination of veget-
ables and fruits . . . The
different types of grapes are
great after or during a meal.
OLDEST IN THE coun-
try is Balalaika Orchestra
of Detroit ... celebrating
anniversary number 55 .
Oct. 17 ... in concert at Or-
chestra Hall.
Among the nine orchestra
members are Harriet
"Hecky" Kasle, Ben's
widow, who plays the prima
domra which is "the violin"
or "mandolin" of the group
and played with a pick .
and Dr. Marvin Brode, Ann
Arbor psychiatrist, who
plays contrabass Balalaika.
Being a non-profit organ-
ization, the concert will en-
able the group to raise funds
to repair old and purchase
new instruments . .. Also,
the concert will fund the or-
chestra's annual Serge
Lariohoff Music Schol-
arship at Wayne State Uni-
versity.
The program will include
Russian as well as Ukrai-
nian, Jewish and gypsy
songs . . . Guest soloist, Ed-
ward Swetlowsky, and At-
lanta baritone famous for
gypsy songs, will include in
his supporting selections

Fine Dining In The Elegant
Vineyard's Tradition
BILLY ROSE QUAR-
TER opens this Tuesday...
for three months ... at To-
pinka's Country House on
Telegraph and Seven Mile
Rd.
He'll have the same group
for listening and dancing
that was at the former Var-
go's on W. Seven Mile .. .
Son Chris Rose on drums;
Rudy Golde, bass; and Billy
Marr, piano.
The name Vargo's is gone
.. same owner, Don Vargo
. different operation and
called Shenanigan Sams.
REGARDING OUR re-
cent bit about Ted
Katopodis being "let go" at
Troy Hilton Hotel, Bennett
Schwartz, vice president of
Harper Associates for man-
agement placement of hotel
and restaurant personnel,
and director of the food and
hospitality, writes, "The
Jewish catering business is
very lucrative to any hotel
or restaurant, and they
would certainly not 'fire '
someone_ for that reason."
GOOD WAITRESS
DEPT. ... Rosalynn Pann
. at Ala Cart restaurant
in Applegate Square on

smiling and efficient .. .
Some day you'll call her Dr.
