Goldie Adler Is Chairman of Bond Between Us Lunch

Goldie Adler, communal
leader who has been associ-
ated with numerous worth-
while civic and Jewish
causes, has accepted the
role of chairman of the
Metro Detroit Israel Bonds
Third Annual "Bond Be-
tween Us" Luncheon, it was

announced by Leah Snider,
Women's Divisiond,chair-
man.
Scheduled for noon Oct.
29 at Cong. Shaarey Zedek,
the event is sponsored by
the Israel Bond Women's
Division and will culminate
a two-month long special

Bond purchases by women.
Luncheon honoree will be
Metro Detroit Women's Di-
vision Director Lillian
Fischer of Southfield.
The event represents for
the first time, nationally,
that an Israel Bond profes-

Miss Fischer has been
with the Bond Organiza-
tion for 30 years; Mrs.
Adler is now organizing a
tribute committee that
will include many of the
Bond chairmen and hon-
orees of the past three
decades.
Mrs. Adler has been a
long time lay leadei in the
Bond program; she was pre-
sent at the inaugural meet-
ing of the Women's Division
in May 1951.
She has served or serves
on the boards of Hadasrmh,
Bnai Brith, Sinai Hospital
Guild, Southfield Arts
Council, the Shapero School
of Nursing, Children's Hos-
pital, Hutzel Hospital,
Brandeis University,
Wayne University Press
and the Center Symphony
Orchestra. She organized
the Women's Division of the
Detroit Round Table of the
National Conference of
Christians and Jews and
the Jewish Welfare Federa-
tion's Women Division.
Born and educated in
New York, Mrs. Adler is the
wife of the late Rabbi Adler,
former spiritual leader of
Cong. Shaarey Zedek.
She has co-edited and
compiled "The Voice Still
Speaks" and "May I Have
a Word with You," two
books of Rabbi Adler's
sermons. She has lec-
tured and written widely.
Mrs. Adler has received
awards, including the Israel
Bonds' "Eleanor Roosevelt
Humanities Award," the
Mt. Carmel Hospital "Lady
of Mercy Award," the
Jewish Theological Semi-
nary's "Solomon Schechter
Award," and Hadassah's
highest national honor,
"The Myrtle Wreath
Award."
