A new floor hockey league, under the guidance of Ed Krass, Physical
Education teacher in the Southfield school system, will run for 14 weeks.
A two-week orientation period will start the program off, followed by a
12-game schedule.

He was 1960 chairman of
the Allied Jewish Cam-
paign and in 1968 served as
chairman of the Israel
Emergency Cash Mobiliza-
tion Campaign.
Among his recognitions
are an honorary doctorate
bestowed on him in 1962 by
Bar-Ilan University in Is-
rael; the Fred M. Butzel
Award in 1961 by the
Jewish Welfare Federation
of Detroit; in the same year
the city of Detroit declared
an "Honorary Citizen —
Irwin I. Cohn Day"; in 1966,
the Council of Orthodox
Rabbis of Detroit cited him
for "outstanding, dedicated
leadership and a lifetime of
charitable endeavors."
In 1962, a branch of the
United Hebrew Schools was
named in honor of his par-
ents.
Some of his former activi-
ties include many years as a
member of the Detroit
House of Correction Com-
mission; Wayne County
Board of Supervisors; Met-
ropolitan Detroit Regional
Planning Commission;
Advisory Board of United
Foundation; president of
the Urban League of De-
troit; president of Michigan
Bnai Brith Hillel Founda-
tion, Inc.; chairman of the
Detroit Israel Bond Organ-
ization.

In 1969, the new Hillel
quarters at Wayne State
University were named
Irwin I. Cohn Hall. Bnai
Brith has cited him with
its Humanitarian Award
and a Presidential Cita-
tion, and Jewish National
Fund planted the Irwin I.
Cohn and - Sadie Cohn
Forest in Israel in 1969.

Cohn belongs to 16 De-
troit synagogues and tem-
ples.
