TEL AVIV (JTA) 8 The
first evidence of the positive
outcome of the meetings be-
tween Egyptian President
. Anwar Sadat and Premier
Menahem Begin in Alexan-
dria last month became ap-
parent last week when, for
the first time ever, Israeli
trucks drove across the bor-
der direct to Cario. Until
now, the Egyptians have
not allowed Israeli vehicles
to drive on Egyptian roads,
saying that no foreign cars
or trucks are allowed in
Egypt.
Goods between Israel and
Egypt had to be transferred
from Israeli to Egyptian ve-
hicles at the El Arish border
crossing point, and vice
versa.

Israel Air Show
Slated for '83

TEL AVIV (JTA) — Is-
rael will hold its first inter-
national air show in August
1983.
The show, to be held at
Tel Aviv's Sde Dov Airport
and in the nearby Tel Aviv
fairgrounds and Yarkon
Park, will display from 80 to
100 aircraft and aviation
equipment, with the par-
ticipation of an expected
300 representatives from at
least 16 countries. Both Po-
land and the Soviet Union
have been invited to par-
ticipate but replies have not
yet been received.

A Reagan Snub

WASHINGTON —
Newsweek magazine says
Congressional Democrats
were miffed that they were
not invited to the White
House dinner last week
honoring Menahem Begin.
The White House said the
snub was not deliberate and
that many people who
wished to attend could not
be accommodated.
Observers were sur-
prised, however, that Sen.
Henry Jackson (D-Wash.),
one of Israel's staunchest
supporters, was not invited.
