"Five in One — Holiday
Plays for Jewish Children,"
by Susan Nanus, has just
been published by the
Union of American Hebrew
Congregations of America.
The 81/2-by-11-inch
paperback volume contains
a simple set and prop list for
each play, and the scripts
are printed in easy-to-read
type for schools and
synagogue youth groups.
The plays include: "A
Prayer from the Heart" for
the High Holidays; "The
Littlest Maccabee" for
Hanuka; "The Noisemaker"
for Purim; "The Homemade
Shabat" for the Sabbath;
and "The Case of the Mys-
terious Cracker" for Pass-
over.
Included in the volume
is an editor's introduc-
tion by former Detroiter
Rabbi Daniel B. Syme,
educational director for
the UAHC.
Susan Nanus wrote her
first play in the sixth grade
at a Jewish day school in her
native Chicago. She now
lives in the New York area,
where she continues as a
playwright for children and
adults.
