Bar Mitzva of Jeffrey

Prior to assuming his

Zionists Banned

LONDON — The Inter-
national Council of Jews
from Czechoslovakia re-
ports that Paragraph 91 of
Czech criminal law links
"militant Zionist organiza-
tions with nationalist ten-
dencies with a reactionary
ideology including anti-
Communism."
The law says this makes
Zionism "a tool of im-.
perialism," a high treason
offense punishable by a
prison sentence of 12-15
years, or the death sen-
tence.

Annual High Holiday Appeal PLO

A creation by Jewish ar-
tist Phillip Ratner, depict.
ing a bas - relief King David
in Jerusalem, will be pre-
sented this year to
synagogues which produce
outstanding results in Is-
rael Bond High Holy Day
Appeals. This year's appeal
stresses the theme "From
Generation Unto Genera-
tion."
The bronze-colored bas-
relief shows an image of
King David with his harp
standing over Jerusalem
against the background of a
sunrise. Each copy will be
inscribed with the congre-
gation's name and the title
"David in Jerusalem."
In this year's High Holy
Day Appeal, which marks
the 30th anniversary of the
Israel Bond Organization,
Israel Bonds seeks to
mobilize $50 million, a 25
percent increase over the
$40 million recorded last
year in 1,100 U.S. and
Canadian synagogues.

Local synagogues par-
ticipating in the appeal in-
clude: Beth Abraham Hillel
Moses, Beth Achim, Beth

Shalom, Beth Tefilo
