CALGARY, Alberta — A
40-year-old black Canadian
construction worker has
joined the Alberta chapter
of the Ku Klux Klan, ac-
cording to the Toronto
Globe and Mail.
Louis Proctor was unoffi-
cially sworn into the Klan
on July 31 by Alberta Chap-
ter President Tearlach Mac
a' Phearsoin. The Alberta
chapter of the KKK is
known as the most liberal
branch of the racist group in
North America.
Both Proctor and Mac a'
Phearsoin see the turn of
events as the symbol for a
"new beginning for the
white and black races in
North America."
"We can prove that black
and white can live together
in peace and harmony, join-
ing forces to wipe out racial
hatred," Proctor said. Pro-
ctor has assumed the role of
a kleagle, or klan organizer
and will try recruiting other
black members.
