Perpetual Scholarship
Fund at Histadrut's Amal
Vocational Schools in Is-
rael. Since their founding
50 years ago, Amal schools
have prepared young people
for vocations needed by the
national economy.
There are now 50 schools
in the Amal network
throughout Israel. Special
priority is given to newly-
developed areas, mostly
populated by immigrants
from the Islamic countries
and the Soviet Union. The
Amal schools offer instruc-
tion in electronics, auto
mechanics, aviation
mechanics, draftmanship,
textile skills, carpentry,
locksmithing, home eco-
nomics and other trades.
The scholarship fund
also provides stipends at
the university level and
research grants for sci-
ence, medicine, social
studies and engineering.
Over 55,000 scholarships
and educational grants
have already been given.

The Cabinet Sunday ap-
pointed Minister of Con-
struction and Housing
David Levy as the second
Deputy Premier, in addition
to Simha Ehrlich. Premier
Menahem Begin announced
that in his absence, Ehrlich
would take his place.
The Cabinet also ap-
pointed Likud Knesset
member Haim Kaufman as
Deputy Minister of Finance.
Kaufman, a major toy im-
porter, will have to divest
himself of his business as-
