Haverim Home Residents to Host
Afterglow Following 'Best Boy

Residents of the four
Haverim Homes for re-
tarded citizens will host an
afterglow with music and
refreshments following the
showing on Sept. 24 at
Northland Theater of the
Academy Award-winning
film "Best Boy."
The Jewish Association
for Retarded Citizens has
arranged the screening in
support of its many-faceted
program, particularly resi-
dential homes.
Like Philly, the 52-year-
old retarded man whose
story is told in "Best Boy,"
residents of the JARC's
Haverim Homes are em-
ployed or attend school, par-
ticipate in social events and
outings and contribute to
the operation of the home in
which they reside.
Observance of the Sab-
bath and Jewish holidays,
as well as maintenance of
kashrut, is an important
element at each Haverim
Home.
More than 100 individu-
als are waiting to be placed
in JARC homes.

the 7:45 p.m. Sept. 24 show-
ing of"Best Boy," or to make

der was recently appointed
for a four-year term to the
American Association of
Respiratory Therapy
(AART) Board of Medical
Advisers as a representa-
tive from the American
Society of Anesthesiologists-
(ASA). Dr. Alexander is
senior attending anes-
thesiologist at Sinai Hospi-
tal of Detroit.

Simon Cieck as President

Simon Cieck was re-
elected president for the
1981-1982 program year at
a recent general member-
ship meeting of the
Jabotinsky Society of Herut
Zionists of America.
Elected with Cieck were:
Samuel Hornung, vice
president; Evelyn Klein,
secretary; and Mila
Horowitz, treasurer.

elected to the board of trus-

Rally Sunday

The Jewish Defense
League will hold a Hebron
Martyr Day rally 11 a.m.-5
p.m. Sunday at the Zionist
Cultural Center.
The city of Hebron was
the scene of numerous Arab
massacres against the Jews
in the 1920s and 1930s,
prior to Israel's statehood.
This rally will be a memo-
rial tribute to the hundreds
of Jewish men, women and
children who were killed by
the Arabs.
The Jewish community is
